International Moot Court Competitions

Internationalization, empiricism, and integration are the core values of NCTU Law. We believe international moot court competitions provide a perfect environment to achieve these goals and to help students to gain practical experience systematically before graduation. We provide practical courses that are designed specifically for international moot court competitions. In these courses, students learn to prepare case briefs, debate, discuss and negotiate in English.

Our students have achieved great success in international moot court competitions and demonstrated excellent international competitiveness. Since 2007, our students have participated in the WTO Moot Court Competition hosted by the European Law Student Association. In 2016, our team not only won the second place and two best debaters of the WTO International Moot Court Competition-East Asia Group, they eventually advanced to the top eight in the finals. We have also formed teams to participate in the International ADR Mooting Competition, one of the most prestigious international business dispute resolution moot court events in the world. Our students have won “the Best Memorandum for Claimant” and “the Best Memorandum” for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016. Last but not least, our students have participated in the “Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot” in 2015 and won “eighth finalists as Best Oral Team.” This remains to be the best result of Taiwanese teams in history. Our team entered the world’s top 16 and shared the ranking as Harvard and Yale.
