Wen-Yu Chia joined the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University School of Law as an associate professor in the spring of 2023. He was a faculty member of the Taipei Medical University Graduate Institute of Health & Biotechnology Law between 2017 to 2023.
Chia’s research interests include constitutional law, administrative law and regulatory theory, legal methodology and interdisciplinary approaches to law, and ELSI (ethical, legal, and social issues). He was awarded a Young Scholar Fellowship by the Ministry of Science & Technology in 2020.
In addition to his research and teaching, Chia takes opportunities to contribute to academia and society. He has been on the editorial board of the Journal of Science & Health Law since 2021. He joined the Taiwan Association of Human Rights board in 2019 to advocate human rights issues in Taiwan. He was also invited by the Civic and Society Resource Center to advise on civic education material for high school students.
Chia received his LL.B. from National Chengchi University, LL.Ms. from National Taiwan University and Duke University. He received his doctorate degree (S.J.D.) from Duke University in 2015 with his dissertation titled Interdisciplinary Approaches to Constitutional Reasoning: A Comparative Study Between Taiwan and U.S. Constitutional Cases.
